Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Symptoms - Oren Zarif - Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

One of the main signs of non-small cell lung cancer is a growth in the lymph nodes, particularly the cervical and supraclavicular lymph nodes. These lymph nodes are firm and painless and are often enlarged by cancer. When non-small cell lung cancer is detected early, treatments may include surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, and immunotherapy.

CT scans are very useful in diagnosing this disease, because they produce detailed images of the organs, blood vessels, muscles, and bones. Similarly, sputum can be tested for cytology or lung tissue. Other tests involve testing the fluid between the lining of the chest and lung. While most of the symptoms of NSCLC are not cancer-specific, they do tend to be vague and may be caused by other illnesses.

Other signs of non-small cell lung cancer include blood clots in the legs. These blood clots may break off and travel to the lungs, or cause pulmonary emboli. Patients may feel pain and swelling in their legs. Other symptoms include swelling and warmth of the hands and feet, and yellow skin or a rash. Some people with non-small cell lung cancer may also experience chest pain, diarrhea, or sweating.

Small cell lung cancer is less common than non-small cell lung cancer, and has a higher rate of spreading. It develops in the bronchia and is often associated with smoking. While small cell lung cancer has fewer symptoms, it is still a deadly disease, and early detection is crucial. If you experience these signs and symptoms, don't delay treatment. Instead, schedule a chest x-ray to determine whether the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

The treatment for non-small cell lung cancer is based on the stage of the disease and the overall health of the patient. Treatment can include surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy. Patients and doctors should discuss the different treatment options and the goals for treatment before deciding on the best option. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor. You may want to bring a family member or friend along with you to help you understand what your doctor is telling you. If you have a history of smoking, having someone with you at your appointments is also helpful. Taking a second opinion from a physician can give you extra comfort and peace of mind. Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Symptoms may also be the result of a lung infection or another health issue.

If your tumor is less than three centimeters in diameter and hasn't spread to lymph nodes or distant areas, it is called a stage II disease. In stage III, the cancer has metastasized to the lymph nodes and/or to other parts of the body. In stage IV, it has spread to the heart or trachea. Symptoms can recur even after successful treatment.

Another type of lung cancer is adenocarcinoma, which begins in the cells lining the air passages. This type of cancer is more likely to affect smokers. In addition to lung cancer, adenocarcinomas may spread to the lymph nodes. If left untreated, the disease may become a life-threatening condition. Fortunately, most non-small cell lung cancers are curable with proper treatment and early diagnosis.
