Hemorrhagic Stroke - Oren Zarif - Hemorrhagic Stroke

Hemorrhagic stroke is a serious medical condition. It contributes to approximately 10% to 20% of all strokes each year. It is more common in men than women and is increasingly prevalent in Asian and African countries. Because it can occur suddenly and without warning, the first step in treatment is to reduce pressure on the brain caused by bleeding. In some cases, medications or surgery may be necessary. A careful medical history will be necessary to determine the cause of the stroke.

A weakened blood vessel in the brain can rupture, causing bleeding. This causes pressure and swelling in the brain, damaging brain cells and tissues. Hemorrhagic stroke is caused by a ruptured blood vessel. Some common causes include high blood pressure, aneurysm, trauma, and blood clotting disorders. A stroke can also be caused by a genetic condition known as arteriovenous malformation, and can result in stroke.

If you experience a hemorrhagic stroke, it is critical to seek immediate medical treatment. The goal of treatment is to stop the bleeding and prevent further damage to brain cells. Treatment will vary depending on the type of hemorrhage that has occurred. The most common type is an intracerebral hemorrhage, which occurs when a blood vessel bursts inside the brain and damages brain cells. Patients with this type of stroke are often older.

Another type is a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which occurs when bleeding occurs in the space between the brain and the surrounding tissues. Aside from head injuries, blood thinners, and bleeding disorders can also be causes of subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Treatment for this type of stroke will depend on the location of the bleeding and the severity of the stroke. Typically, patients will experience headaches, lethargy, nausea, and vomiting. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, or obesity are more likely to develop this type of stroke. A GP will be able to help determine whether a patient has any family history of hemorrhagic stroke. If the symptoms are present, treatment may include surgery to close the blood vessel and restore brain function.

If you suspect someone has experienced a stroke, you should contact your local emergency services immediately. A doctor will perform a FAST test to identify the type of stroke the patient is suffering from. You should be vigilant while waiting for medical attention. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Mayo Clinic. They can provide free health information and expert advice on how to deal with your health. You should not delay treatment.

Other symptoms of a hemorrhagic stroke include sudden difficulty walking, dizziness, or loss of balance. Symptoms may also include blackouts, drooping arms and faces, and loss of coordination. Seeing or hearing slurred speech or difficulty understanding speech are all signs of a stroke and should be attended to immediately. Your symptoms may be more severe than others and may require medical intervention.

When a blood vessel bursts, pressure is exerted on the brain. A blood clot or hematoma can form from the collected blood. The clot or hematoma can increase pressure on the brain. The depth of the hemorrhage can range from near the surface to deep within the brain. Deep hemorrhages may expand into the ventricles, resulting in hydrocephalus.
